Southern Namibia & Kgalagadi Tranfrontier Park – an African 4×4 Rental trip.
Approx. 6000km on a three weeks journey, December 2010 – January 2011.
Found Ivory 4×4 last year and it was no doubt whom to contact for the car rental this year again. Last year we only stayed at lodges but this year we were going to try the roof top tent.
We spent Christmas in Upington on a B&B. Then into Namibia and our first night in the roof top tent. Stayed at Quivertree forest rest camp which was really nice. As always the 4×4 car is well equipped so our first Braai was easy and enjoyable. After getting used to the heat (did come from minus 17 degrees C and half a meter of snow) we slept like baby’s, everything worked really well.
Did couple of days in Luderitz and the guided tour in the “ghost town” was excellent. Fun to see all the engineering creativity during that time. Imagine having fridge and ice available in the dessert beginning of 1900.
Spent New year in Solitare at the fantastic farm Solitare guest farm. We were adopted by the suricate Mr.Pumba. He joined us on our walk and halfway through we needed to carry him, lazy guy but really cute. Did see the Dunes, impressive!
Went to Windhoek and did some shopping some “safari” gear.
Then slowly back to South Africa and the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park.
Our absolute favorite in the park was the Gharagab wilderness camp where we had the lions in the camp at the night. Just amazing.
The 4×4 car was, as last time, just perfect. Well equipped, good standard and comfortable.
We will be back next year again. Sorry you will not get rid of us when you provide such a good service
