Traveling in a group or party can be joyful or it can be a nightmare. I want to tell you about a joyful tour that my wife and I recently experienced.
My wife Marietjie and I were fortunate to travel together with Hindie and Suzaane van Rensburg from Ivory 4×4 Hire in an Isuzu KB 3.0 4X4 Double Cab with all necessary camping equipment. We covered about 3000 km. over a period of 12 days. The route took us from Pretoria to the Kruger National Park where we spent a lovely few days admiring several species of game including the big five.
The next leg of our journey took us through Swaziland to Kosi Bay at the east coast. The road varied from good to bad with big potholes, loose sand, sharp dongas and steep slippery mountains. The Isuzu carried us with comfort over every part of the long road. We all enjoyed a comfortable ride watching the beautiful scenery and landscape.
We stayed at Kosi Bay for a few days and took time to explore the country to the south as well as to the north into Mozambique. What an experience it was to travel along almost not existing ways and winding tracks through deep loose sand and across bushy dunes. The Isuzu never missed a beat and took us comfortably over the rough terrain. We enjoyed the beautiful beaches and dense vegetation along the coast. Birdlife was prolific in Ndumo Game Reserve and the animals of Tembe Elephant Park was amazing and unforgettable.
Our next destination was the game parks of northern Natal. We explored Mkuzi Game Reserve, Hluhluwe Game Reserve as well as Mfolozi Game Reserve. It was wonderful to see so many splendid species of game and the views from the hilltops were breathtaking.
Time past much too soon and we were sad to turn our trusty vehicle towards home in Pretoria. Good friends, comfortable transport and the wonders of nature will remain in my thoughts for a long time.
