Rental Period: 12 May 2009 – 25 May 2009
Tour Plan: Rens, Joost & Kim set off from Pretoria and travelled all the way down to Cape Town. Needless to say, they did not just take the N1 South, but took the scenic route.
Hello everyone,
Just a quick introduction: We’re Rens, Joost and Kim. 3 friends from the Netherlands. After a short trip to Cape Town last year we decided to plan a longer trip to South Africa. We all liked the idea of driving from Johannesburg to Cape Town. Renting a 4×4 with rooftop tents would give us the ultimate freedom. Ivory 4×4 Hire gave us the best deal and service. The first night free accomodation on their farm is just perfect to start your trip. No stress and you can start your trip relaxed and refreshed.
The next morning we were off on our journey that would cover almost 4000km. Travelling from campsite to campsite, setting up camp and the braai whenever we felt like it. Most of the time we didn’t take the highway. Driving on the main and minor roads we feel we really got to see South Africa. On the untarred roads and mountain passes the 4×4 absolutely excelled.
South Africa is a wonderfully divers country. Offering stunning views, an abundance of wildlife, a rich history & culture and of course great food & wine. We can’t tell you everything we’ve seen. It’s just to much. We can tell you some of our highlights: Natal NP, Sani pass, Wild coast, Addo NP, Garden Route and Tsitsikama NP.
We had an amazing trip, exploring and experiencing South Africa. Still there’s much more to see, so we’ll probably be back for another trip. When people ask us what it was like, we try to explain, but actually you have to go and see for yourself!
Kind Regards,
